Technological Trend and Outlook in the Future of Distributed Energy Systems in IT Society
Investigating R&D committee on energy source decentralization and diversification trend in homes, buildings, and shops in IT society
Distributed energy systems command the spotlight in the foreground of the progress of electric power deregulation, efforts to save energy, and the introduction of clean energy. A rapid expansion of the market is foreseen because of development of new distributed energy system technology and the expansion of the range of applications in the future. The “investigating R&D committee on energy source decentralization and diversification trend in homes, buildings, and shops in the IT society” was set up to investigate the trend of the new distributed energy system technology; IT society needs for a distributed energy system; IT usage trends in distributed energy systems; and needs to solve the technological problems of lowering the cost, miniaturization, and providing high reliability concerning distributed energy system introduction. This technical report is a result of the investigation.
The development trend of the distributed energy system is described in terns of the system configuration, specification, development situation, and performance target. The technology achieved now or being developing is described in terms of the application of IT use to remote surveillance; the control technique of the distributed energy system; energy saving; and the use of home networks in distributed energy systems. The problem of the spread of the distributed energy system, technical problems when the distributed energy system is introduced, the necessity of cooperative operation with commercial power sources, deregulation, and the requirements of the distributed energy system in the IT society are described.
