Drive circuits and control technologies for permanent magnetic motors and reluctance motors
Investigating R&D Committee on drive circuits and control technologies for permanent magnetic motors and reluctance motors
Permanent magnetic motors and reluctance motors have been enabled to be used with their full advantages by power electronics and permanent magnet technologies. In the environmental aspect, they can provide preferable solutions with their high efficiency, good compatibility for recycle, and so forth. The motors are now beginning to be widely used especially in smaller capacity applications like elevators, electric trains, hybrid and electric vehicles, electrical home appliances and electrical equipment, machine tools and the like. There are, however, some technological problems to be solved for the sophisticated use of them. Some of the problems are the field weakening methods, counter electromotive force in the free run condition in permanent magnetic motors, the high torque ripples and the audible noise of reluctance motors.
The committee made an extensive survey on the concurrent technologies for these motors. This technical report covers the following topics.
1) Drive circuit technologies for permanent magnetic motors
2) Control technologies for permanent magnetic motors
3) Drive circuit technologies for reluctance motors
4) Control technologies for reluctance motors
5) Modeling technologies for both motors
The above items involve vector control technique, sensorless drives, the ways to utilize reluctance torque, and so on.
