Evaluation of applications for Fuel Cell systems
- Status and Issues for public and service use -
Investigating R&D Committee on evaluation of Fuel Cell system applications
Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cells (PAFA) have already been in available stage on endurance and reliability. Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells(MCFC), which are expected to future power stations, and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells(SOFC), which are expect to co-generation system, have high efficiency and technical progress. They are going to demonstration stage in the world. Recently, Proton Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFC) is remarkable progress for automobile and residential co-generation applications.
This committee has conducted examination activity for technical issues on introducing step of several PEFC systems, such as stationary and automobile applications, from Jun. 2001 to May 2004.
In this examination, we obtained information for 1) present status of FC systems, 2) requests for operability and operation technology, 3) connecting technology to grids, and 4) deregulation for acceleration of introducing. Based on these results, this report discussed technical status, issues and desirable applications for each FC system.
