Generic Models for the Simulation of Power Electronics Systems: Smart-Grid, Motor-Drive and Automotive Applications
Cooperative Study Group on Generic Model Development for Power Electronics System Simulations
Keyword : Power electronics, Simulations, Smart grids, Motor drives, and Vehicles.
This technical report describes the generic simulation models created through the activities of the Cooperative Study Group on Generic Model Development for Power Electronics System Simulations. These generic models were developed by the Smart Grid Working Group (WG), the Motor Drive WG, and the Automotive WG launched under the cooperative study group mentioned above for more convenient simulations in these fields.
The Smart Grid WG developed generic models of the components of the Japanese-style smart grid, from the distribution substation to customer devices, for electromagnetic transient simulations. This report describes the developed generic models and illustrates simulation examples using these models. The Motor Drive WG defined the generic models of dc motors, induction motors, their control systems and driving circuits. The WG performed a survey of a number motors and developed convenient methods to calculate motor model constants from specification-sheet data. The Automotive WG developed a generic model for fuel consumption simulations using multi-domain simulation languages such as VHDL-AMS and Modelica.
