In this presentation, I will first provide an overview of the questions my team is currently addressing, from the directional pathfinding of the human fungal opportunistic pathogenCandida albicansto micro-algae trapping and cancer cell mechanics. In a second step, I will mainly focus on the latter topic, presenting our latest results concerning the survival of circulating cancer cells and the production of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in microfluidic capillary beds. In brief, cells from aggressive cancers display a better survival upon circulation. We have also demonstrated a dramatic increase in EV bioproduction under recirculation conditions, which is even more pronounced when repeated deformation is added to shear stress.
