Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) is utilized from a car to household electrical appliance widely. Vector control is generally used as the control method of IPMSM. This method detects the position of the magnetic pole using the position sensor such as encoder and controls an electric current based on the direction.
However from the viewpoint of miniaturization and cost reduction, sensor-less vector control systems without using an encoder have been proposed in many papers. We proposed a simplified method which estimates the rotor position using the d-axis voltage without using observer and controls motor speed using the d-axis voltage too. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the simulation are demonstrated and discussed.
