This article presents the response of a spherical bushy neuron model in the cochlear nucleus to the pulsatile electric stimuli modulated by a sinusoidal function using computer simulation. In this study, the vector strength is utilized as an index for evaluating the encoding of sinusoidal functions into the spike responses. As the modulation depth of the modulated pulsatile stimuli increased, the sinusoidal component tended to be better encoded. However, the modulation depth was set at greater than 10 %, the encoding was not necessarily improved. These results imply that setting the modulation depth to an appropriate value makes it possible to better encode the sinusoidal function into the electrically stimulated spike responses in auditory brain-stem implants.
