|The contents of the report is as follows. Chapter 1 describes the purpose and background of the investigation. In Chapter 2, the types of power electronic apparatuses for power systems are categorized, and the relationship to application purposes are clarified. Chapter 3 describes the control technologies commonly used in these different types of apparatuses. This chapter offers basic knowledge useful for conducting studies on the power electronic equipment. In Chapter 4-6, the control technologies for HVDC systems, FACTS devices, and dispersed power sources are investigated and clarified in detail, which will be helpful for understanding control functions and controller systems design. In the Appendix, some examples of numerical simulation models and simulation results of the power electronic equipment are provided, which may be useful for readers' self-training or exercises. Moreover, the Glossary offers explanations of important terms and abbreviations that appear in the document.
The report is, thus, aimed to be a powerful help for planning of installation and operation of the power electronic equipment for power systems.
