    | | Electrical and electronic technologies are becoming indispensable for improvement
of automotives, especially for realization of more environmental-friendly,
safer and more comfortable vehicles. The number of electric equipments
and electronics used in a vehicle is increasing year-by-year. For example,
many cars are equipped with high power loads like an electric power steering.
Also electric motor drive such as HEVs and motorized 4WD systems are more
and more widely used. The automotive electric power supply systems are
gaining importance and are considered to be an infrastructure for these
electric equipments and electronics. It is also required to improve its
performances so as to attain higher efficiency, larger capacity and higher
reliability. The Investigation Committee on Management of Automotive Electric
Power Supply Systems focused on the future trends for automotive electric
power supply systems and depicted road maps for the next decade. The committee
treated a desirable future power supply system, and technological challenges
and development status. This report presents the result of research, including
automotive power supply system, energy management, power management, electric
component, power electronics, energy storage device and battery management
    system. |
