Investigating R&D Committee on Practical Performance Evaluation Techniques of Rotating Machines by Electromagnetic Field Analysis
Keyword : Rotating Machines, Electromagnetic Field Analysis, Finite Element Method, Loss, Benchmark Model
While the high performance of the rotating machines such as high efficiency and high power density has been requested, accurate performance evaluation with short time and saved labor is required in the machine design process. This request makes the electromagnetic field analysis to play more important role. In this report, the trends of analysis techniques, such as loss analysis, material modeling, fast calculation method corresponding to the three dimensional large scale analysis, pre- and post-processing, and examples of application to the practical machine design stages are summarized. Furthermore, with a benchmark model of the interior type permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM), harmonic loss, material property, coupled analysis with drive circuits are investigated. In addition, the iron loss evaluation experiment by using the reluctance motor in which the magnet is removed from the IPMSM to eliminate the effect of the magnet, and the eddy current loss evaluation experiment in magnet by the standstill rotor condition to eliminate the mechanical loss are also described.
This report would be useful not only for the developers and designers of machine field but also for the researchers in the field of analysis and programming methods who need to know the trends and important points of the practical problems.
